EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Not applicable.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Chief Executive Officer to the General Committee Meeting
dated 18 July 2016, providing a review of Council’s progress in the 2015/16 financial year
towards achieving the seven key priorities set out in the Council’s Corporate Plan.
REPORT
Pursuant to the Local Government Act, the CEO is required to provide Council with an annual
report identifying the progress made towards the achievement of Council’s long term objectives
as set out in the Corporate Plan. Even if this was not a statutory requirement, it would still be a
useful process to review progress in the last financial year. Whilst the CEO provided a report to
Council 12 months ago, the continuing 2014 – 2016 term Councillors may recall that the CEO
also provided a “term in review” report to the February round of meetings.
The CEO has separately provided Council with the usual quarterly report looking at the progress
of the Operational Plan, and details of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the April to June
2016 quarter. This report is designed to look at longer term progress at a Corporate Plan level.
It provides an opportunity to pause from the day to day minutia and to consider what we have
achieved in the last 12 months.
Our current Corporate Plan sets out a number of strategic goals and also identifies seven
priorities for our Council. The key priorities identified are:
1. A financially sustainable Council
2. Great customer service
3. Community engagement and communication
4. Focus on community assets
5. Establishing new policies and strategies
6. Custodianship of Noosa’s environment
7. Diversification of our economy
This review of the last 12 months will be made against these key priorities.
Our next Corporate Plan
As Council would be aware, the current Council Corporate Plan was prepared shortly after de-
amalgamation and was targeted towards priorities associated with the establishment of the new
Council. It has served us well in that regard. We will commence a process in August to develop
our next Corporate Plan which will guide priorities over the next 5 years.
