GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 16 JANUARY 2023
o priority local climate risk issues, and the diverse parties who have control and responsibility
for addressing these issues;
o interest in advancing their own climate risk management and pursuing collaborative
approaches to share responsibility.
In July 2022, 55 key sectoral leaders were engaged in a second series of Roundtable workshops
(1 x 1.5-hour on-line workshop and 2 x 2-hour in person workshops). At these Roundtables,
community stakeholders were engaged to:
o Review our learning from Round 1;
o Present and discuss the Roadmap;
o Identify trusted local networks that the Councils can draw on to ‘Empower Climate Ready
Communities’ (Focus Area 2 of the Roadmap) to involve the broader community in the
climate conversation and climate risk management action.
Internal Consultation
Knowledge, resource and capacity gaps were explored with internal stakeholders through the
delivery of an internal survey, a series of Internal Staff Workshops, Cross Divisional Leadership
Workshops, and a Leadership Meeting with staff. The Internal Survey was distributed to all local
government council employees at both the Noosa and Sunshine Coast Councils. The internal
survey elicited 383 responses (88 responses from NC staff, 295 responses from SCC staff).
Within the Cross Divisional Leadership Workshops, Senior staff and Executives were specifically
asked to reflect on, and identify, whether they have appropriate knowledge to make climate risk
management decisions to address the identified risks, whether the risk is under their control to
manage, and whether they have the appropriate capacity, capability and supporting organisational
structures, culture, policies, procedures, and processes to allow them to identify and manage the
risk.
