EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Not applicable.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Parks and Natural Areas Coordinator to the General Committee
Meeting dated 11January 2016 and approve the engagement of the following preferred vendors
for Natural Areas bushland regeneration and ecological maintenance services:
A. For Zone 1 North of Cooroy Noosa Road – Noosa and District Landcare; and
B. For Zone 2 South of Cooroy Noosa Road – Bushland Conservation Management.
REPORT
Noosa Council has management responsibility for approximately 3,000 ha of bushland reserves.
These diverse vegetation communities provide fauna habitat as well as provide important social,
environmental and economic values within the Shire. These reserves and natural areas are
impacted by various land use encroachments, recreational use, and interference with native
vegetation, weed invasion, inappropriate fire regimes, feral animals and environmental
degradation. Ongoing maintenance of these areas is required to ensure environmental and social
values are maintained or enhanced to continue to provide these natural environmental values.
Tenders were sought via an open market Invitation to Tender process, to provide bushland
regeneration and ecological maintenance services in two zones. Zone 1 includes areas roughly
north of the Cooroy Noosa Road and Zone 2 includes areas roughly south of this road.
The services included in this scope of work includes are but not limited to;
Regeneration works to return bushland to a healthy diverse, representative and largely self-
sustaining condition.
Staged removal of weeds including weed trees, vines, cacti, succulents, shrubs, grasses and
aquatic plants from environmental reserves
The use of small machinery including bush cutter and chain saw,
The use of hand tools and chemical or non-chemical weed control techniques.
