SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 6 SEPTEMBER 2016
o Increase of risk likelihood for Terrorism from Rare to Possible
o Update of risk reduction strategies to reflect changes in disaster management at Noosa
Council in last 12 months
Inclusion of new role of Disaster Management & Special Projects Officer
The 2016/17 Plan will be tabled for the endorsement of the Noosa Local Disaster Management
Group (LDMG) at its meeting on 15 September 2016. Refer Attachment 1 for 2016/17 Plan.
2. Local Disaster Management Plan operational appendices
The Plan also has a number of operational appendices. Devolving the responsibilities for
updating and approving these appendices to the LDMG will enable updates and improvements to
be made quickly and as required.
Although the Recovery Plan is an appendix, it is a substantial document and details all aspects of
responsibility for recovery from a disaster. Therefore, it is prudent that a formal review of the
Recovery Plan is undertaken, and this is scheduled for completion in 2017. The reviewed
Recovery Plan will be presented to Council for adoption.
3. Local Disaster Management Group Members and Advisors
The local government has responsibility for appointing members and advisors to the LDMG.
Only members of the LDMG have voting rights and count towards the meeting quorum.
Members are appointed if the local government is satisfied that the person has the necessary
expertise or experience to be a member of the LDMG.
Advisors to the LDMG provide expertise on an as-needed basis and are invited to attend
meetings.
The membership of the LDMG and the list of advisors have been reviewed as part of the review
of the Plan. Refer Attachment 2.
