Re: 14-16 Hastings St Noosa Heads QLD 4567
Dear Sir/Madam,
The proposed signage development for the above address is for external signage only
and The Signcraft Group believe it involves negligible environment. Our proposal
consists of the following signs:
• Remove existing fascia sign and replace with new "Sofitel" internally illuminated
sign 315mm x 4000
• Remove existing fascia sign and replace with new "Sofitei" internally illuminated
sign 473mm x 6000
• Install 1 off internally illuminated fascia sign "Noosa pacific Resort" 3BOmm x
BOOOmm
Special Areas:
An on site observation shows that the installation of the proposed signs will not detract
from the amenity and visual quality of the streetscape.
Views and Vistas:
The installation of the new signs does not compromise or obscure any existing views or
interfere with the advertising of any surrounding properties.
Streetscape setting and landscape:
Given the actual size of the property and its existing buildings, the new signs will not
compromise the surrounding environment. .
Site and Building:
We believe that our proposal is not out of proportion with the surrounding building. We
believe that the innovative design/colours will only enhance the visual impact of the site
and blend in with the surrounding building.

Safety:
With minimal internal illumination and the signs being located wholly within the
boundary of the property the location proposes no risk to passing pedestrians and
cyclists, nor will it hinder the view of approaching traffic.
We realise that the planning allows for only 1 illuminated sign per frontage, our client is
hoping that council takes into account that the illumination of their whole sign package
is important to attracting cliental as the area is a very popular tourist town.
It is believed that the signage proposal in question does not impact on the surrounding
landscape as it is currently stands. In stating this though, should this situation arise,
both Signcraft and our client would be willing to work with council to resolve any issues
so that a satisfactory agreement may be reached between all parties.

113. Applicant's declaration
By making this application, I declare that all . in this application is true and correct (Note: it is unlawful to
provide false or misleading information)
Notes for completing this form
• Section 261 of the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 pre ribes when an application is a properly-made application.
Note, the assessment manager has discretion to accept an application as properly made despite any non-
compliance with the requirement to provide mandatory supporting information under section 260(1 )(c) of the
Sustainable Planning Act 2009
Applicant details
• Where the applicant is not a natural person, ensure the applicant entity is a real legal entity.
Question 1
• Schedule 3 of the Sustainable Planning Regulation 2009 identifies assessable development and the type of
assessment. Where schedule 3 identifies assessable development as "various aspects of development" the
applicant must identify each aspect of the development on Tables A, Band C respectively and as required.
Question 6
• Section 263 of the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 sets out when the consent of the owner of the land is required for
an application. Section 260(1 )(e) of the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 provides that if the owner's consent is
required under section 263, then an application must contain, or be accompanied by, the written consent of the
owner, or include a declaration by the applicant that the owner has given written consent to the making of the
application. If a development application relates to a state resource, the application is not required to be supported
by evidence of an allocation or entitlement to a state resource. However, where the state is the owner of the
subject land, the written consent of the state, as landowner, may be required. Allocation or entitlement to the state
resource is a separate process and will need to be obtained before development commences.
Question 7
• If the premises is listed on either the Contaminated Land Register (CLR) or the Environmental
Management Register (EMR) under the Environmental Protection Act 1994 it may be necessary to
seek compliance assessment. Schedule 18 of the Sustainable Planning Regulation 2009 identifies
where compliance assessment is required.
Question 10
• The Building and Construction Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 1991 prescribes when the portable long
service leave levy is payable.
• The portable long service leave levy amount and other prescribed percentages and rates for calculating the levy
are prescribed in the Building and Construction Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Regulation 2013.
IDAS form I-Application details

Page 9
Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning
Question 10a
• The portable long service leave levy need not be paid when the application is made, but the Building and
Construction Industry (Portable Long Service Leave) Act 1991 requires the levy to be paid before a development
permit is issued.
• Building and construction industry notification and payment forms can be completed on the QLeave website at

Subject: FW: sign licence query
Attachments: Sofitel_Noosa Pacific resort QLD - Sky signs.pdf
Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for sending your enquiry. The proposal is for 3 illuminated signs. The planning scheme allows for 1 illuminated
sign per frontage. There is no approval for any additional illuminated signage to the southern facade of the
development. There are 2 options
1. Illuminate only 1 of the 3 signs and it would be self-assessable - no planning approval required
2. Submit the plans for a planning approval (operational works [OPW] signage) - please note that not all 3
signs are likely to be supported as illuminated.
The fee for the OPW - sign age application is $774 per non-compliant sign. The proposal being 2 additional
illuminated signs to that the code prescribes = $1548 total fee.

Good afternoon Glen.
Just wondering if you could please have a look at our proposal for a new sign at Sofitel Noosa
Pacific resort - Hastings st Noosa Heads and confirm whether we need to apply for a sign licence
or if we could just replace the existing sign with our proposed sign?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
