4.3. Geology

Available geological information’ indicates that the site is at a mapped boundary between recent reclamation
(denoted Qhh, green striped shading) and Pleistocene age “quartz sand, parabolic sand dunes.” Given the
elevation and nature of the site, the former is unlikely and the boundaries are possibly as a result of the
mapping being at a relatively large scale (Ref. Text Figure 7).

4.4 Subsurface Conditions

Detailed descriptions of the subsurface conditions encountered in the Tectonic boreholes are provided in
the borehole reports attached in Appendix A, along with definition sheets which describe terms and
abbreviations used on the reports. Subsurface conditions encountered in the boreholes, and inferred from
deeper DCP testing at the boreholes, are summarised as follows:

* Fill — comprising very loose to loose sands (encountered in borehole BHT-2 only) to a depth of
0.7 m BGL; then or from the ground surface in borehole BHT-1
«Natural Sands:

being very loose to depths of between 1 m and 2 m BGL; then

loose to between 2 m and 3.6 m BGL; underlain by

medium dense sands to between 3.8 m and 4.6 m BGL; followed by

dense sands to the testing termination depths of between 4.8 m and 5.6 m BGL.

Table 1 on the following page provides a detailed summary of the subsurface profiles encountered in each
Tectonic and Global borehole, and inferred from deeper DCP testing at each location.
