Social Strategy Review
The Social Strategy was adopted in 2018 and it has supported officers in achieving a
considerable amount during the past three years. The Strategy recommends a review every
three to five years and Council resolved at the Ordinary Meeting of 16 August 2018 to commence
a review and update of the current Social Strategy for consideration in 2019/20. This report
however recommends delaying the review for several reasons:
There are several key pieces of work to be completed as part of the current strategy and
implementation plan including completing Noosa District and Cooroy Sports Complex
Master Plans and finalising the Noosa Health and Wellbeing Plan. The outcomes of these
will form part of the review of the Social Strategy.
Over the past two years Council has completed numerous key strategies and sub-plans.
Council officers are considering mechanisms for stronger alignment and integration
between the strategies. This work will potentially inform future strategy development
including the revised Social Strategy.
Current resourcing levels within the Community Development team aren’t sufficient to
undertake a review in 2019/20.
2019/20 Implementation Priorities
Prior to the review and update of the current Social Strategy, it is recommended that the Plan
remain substantially as is for the coming year. Priorities for 2019/2020 include:
Implement key actions identified in Council Transport Strategy, Cultural Plan and Sport and
Active Recreation Plan.
Finalise the Noosa Health and Wellbeing Plan.
Complete, endorse and plan for the implementation of the Noosa District and Cooroy
Sports Complex Master Plan.
Facilitate the Peregian Beach Community House relocation as part of the Rufous St
Masterplan Stage 3 project.
Facilitate a series of Council community organisation workshops (WHS and Fraud
Workshop as a minimum) to support volunteers .
Coordinate one on one strategic planning processes to support sustainability of
organisations (Peregian Tennis, Noosa Lions Football Club, Noosa Boardriders as a

Highlight and celebrate volunteering opportunities within our community as part of National
Volunteering Week and International Volunteers Day.
