SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 10 SEPTEMBER 2019
The short list options will now be evaluated within the numerical modelling tool and then
evaluated against a criteria that includes:
Costs;
Technical viability;
Environmental impacts;
Social impacts;
Community acceptability;
Adaptability; and
Approval risk.
The outcome of this multi-criteria analysis will then be used to produce a suitability staged
Shoreline Erosion Management Plan.
5. Erosion Update
Since the June 2019 quarterly update, the shoreline at Noosa Spit has remained fairly stable,
with a review of recent aerial photography indicating negligible change to the shoreline position at
Noosa Spit. However, within the lower Noosa estuary in general, there has been a considerable
amount of sand deposited, particularly within the middle channel of the river mouth and against
the southern rock wall. While the erosion rate at Noosa Spit beach is currently fairly low, further
siltation of the central channel over the coming months, due to northerly winds and waves, may
direct more river flows adjacent to the Noosa Spit beach and increase the erosion rate here. This
will continue to be closely monitored.
