RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Waste Coordinator to the Services and Organisation
Committee Meeting dated 10 September 2019, providing an update on the activities of the Waste
Section for the financial year 2018/19.


REPORT
The purpose of this report is to advise Council of waste management activities over the 2018-19
financial year (2019FY). The Waste Section is responsible for:

                       the delivery of domestic and commercial waste and recycling collection services for the
                         community;
                       waste education and behaviour change to reduce waste and improve recycling;
                       delivery of Council’s waste strategy;
                       regulation of littering and illegal dumping;
                       holding tank liquid waste collection;
                       operation of the Eumundi Rd Resource Recovery Facility;
                       operation of Pomona and Cooroy Waste Transfer Stations; and
                       operation of the Eumundi Road Landfill.

1.                       FINANCE

Under National Competition Policy the Waste Business Unit is required to operate under full cost
pricing principles and to make a return on the investment in the business to Council.
