Height clearance Cars = 2.2m Complies with Australian Standards Car bays to have a 2.2m high over bonnet encroachment. 1m beyond last bay and Parking aisle extension including widening of last bay 1m beyond last bay Complies with Australian Standards with 300mm The proposed carpark layout complies with AS2890.1:2004 requirements. All vehicles are able to enter and exit the parking bays within the minimum number of turns required. ITE consider that a functional layout is provided for in the design. All circulation swept paths were carried out by means of AS2890.1:2004 B99 vehicles fully compliant with AS2890.1:2004 Clause B3 for circulation clearance. Car Bay 10 in the basement will be reserved for resident use only and such residents will be familiar with the height limits of this car bay. An RPEQ height clearance assessment was carried out as indicated in Appendix B, and it was found that appropriate height clearance hazard tape be provided across the car bay to indicate the height clearance limit. 4.1.3 Mechanical (Car Stacker) Parking It is proposed to allocate in ground mechanical parking (car stackers) to parking bays 1-6 in the basement for residents. Each system will provide two levels of independent parking which will be allocated to the same residential unit. These car stacker systems operate in an independent manner i.e. vehicle parked within the lower inground parking space can be accessed / exit without the need to relocate / “shuffle” the vehicle in the upper parking space. A basement ceiling height of 4.5m is allowed for which would provide a full expansion of the stacker so that the lower vehicle can access the mechanical parking system. As such, this system allows for a similar operation as a normal car bay which operates in an independent manner. The following assessment of the mechanical parking system as specified for the proposed system being Klaus Multibase U10 is provided: 1. It is proposed to provide a lower height of 200cm and upper vehicle height opportunity of at least 2.2m where ceiling heights are 4500cm. An AS2890.1:2004 B85 has a vehicle height of 160cm and the average adult male has a height of 1.8m in Australia. The proposed lower vehicle height of 2.0m is considered sufficient. The height proposed is also compliant with AS2890.1:2004 Clause B6 which states: “The height of all passenger cars and station wagons are 1.5m. The clear height between floors must also cater for persons walking with reasonable comfort and safety. The 99th percentile height of a male 16
