5.     2014/15 Budget

Staff are currently reviewing operational activity budget requests for 2014/15 with the aim of
building budgets from the ground up to ensure that what is being asked for has evidential support
for its need. The Capital Program is currently under development and will be submitted as part of
the Budget development process for Council consideration. The department staff are also
preparing operational project bids in respect of high priority issues to be considered as part of the
process.

In conjunction with Procurement, staff have commenced work on the development of new
contracts for Traffic Control and Line-marking, it is anticipated that new contract arrangements for
these high-value activities will result in budget savings for Council.

Finance & Risk
There are some risks to service delivery and capacity associated with staffing numbers and skills
which should be mitigated through the adoption of a permanent organisational structure and
filling of some key vacant positions
