4.3 Local Groundwater Conditions
Groundwater or seepage was not encountered in any of the boreholes drilled as part of this
investigation. The moisture content did increase however in borehole BH1 at a depth of 3m.
Seepages may occur within the fill and at the fill/natural soil, and natural soil/weathered rock interfaces
particularly following periods of rainfall.
The presence of the groundwater can vary with seasonal changes, ground slope angles, rainfall,
subsurface material, integrity of in-ground services, and the proximity to, type and density of vegetation.
5.0 LABORATORY TEST RESULTS
The laboratory test results are attached as Appendix C to this report and are summarised in this section.
Disturbed samples were taken for Particle Size Distribution and Atterberg Limits testing (together known
as Quality of Materials). The results of the Quality of Materials tests are summarised in Table 3.

6.0 BATTER SUBSURFACE PROFILES
The batter subsurface profiles are described as follows for the cut and fill areas at the Site:
Cut batter – approximately 5.5m high and exposing extremely weathered granite rock with
engineering properties of a stiff clay of medium or high plasticity.
Fill batter – approximately 4.5m high comprising Controlled Fill sourced from the cuts within the
extremely weathered rock profile onsite. The fill materials are typically described as having
engineering properties of a stiff clay of high plasticity.
7.0 GEOTECHNICAL STRENGTH PARAMETERS
The estimated characteristic design strength parameters for the observed subsurface materials are
given in Table 4.
