4.0 SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS
4.1 Regional Geology
Reference to the State of Queensland Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy (DNRME),
Queensland Globe (2020) indicates that the surface and near-surface geology near the project
alignment comprises middle Triassic aged sedimentary beds with intrusive bodies of middle tertiary
aged igneous rock (refer Table 1).

4.2 Local Subsurface Conditions
The subsurface profile encountered within the boreholes typically comprised a layer of fill underlain by
a residual soil profile underlain by highly weathered (HW) rock. The following gives a brief summary of
the subsurface profiles encountered. Refer to Table 2 and Appendix B for further detail.
Fill material was encountered in all three boreholes to depths of between 1.2m and 4.0m and
was generally described as: Gravelly/Silty CLAY, stiff to hard and of high plasticity.
Residual material was encountered in all three boreholes to depths of between 2.3m to 5m and
was generally described as Sandy/Gravelly CLAY, hard and of medium plasticity.
Granodiorite/Granite Rock (HW) was encountered in boreholes BH1 and BH3 at depths of 2.3m
and 5.0m respectively. Rock was not encounterd in borehole BH2, most likely due to its
termination depth of 3m. The rock encountered was generally described as highly weathered
and of very low strength, recovered as Sandy/Gravelly CLAY, hard and of medium plasticity.
A summary of the profiles encountered in the boreholes is given in Table 2.
