It is expected that these facilities could be provided with the loss of one short-term parking space,
with an indicative arrangement shown in Figure 3.1. In our view, given the minor increase in
pedestrian and cyclist demand likely to be generated by the proposed expansion, it would not be
required (but would be beneficial) to undertake these works as part of the proposed expansion.

3.5.2 Cyclists
The bicycle parking requirement of the proposed expansion has been calculated based on the
mode share survey results and the rate for schools identified in TMR’s PSTIS. It is expected that the
additional 51 students accommodated by the proposed expansion would be equally distributed
between each year group (ie 22 additional students in Year 4 or higher).
As shown in Table 3.2, TMR’s PSTIS requires that bicycle parking with capacity for 11 bicycles be
provided to cater for the proposed expansion, while a reduced provision of one space is expected
to be sufficient based on the existing mode share of staff and students. It is recommended that
additional bicycle parking for six bicycles be provided to cater for the expected additional demand,
and to encourage additional students and staff to travel to and from the school by bicycle.
