Our Ref: ATP150314-L-NIA-02 Enquiries to: Sasho Temelkoski 10 December 2015 Noosa Council PO Box 141 TEWANTIN QLD 4565 Attention: Denis Wallace E-mail: [email protected] Dear Sir, Re: Village Bicycle at 2 Bottlebrush Avenue, Noosa Heads – Consideration of 2.6m high acoustic fence This letter is an addendum to the acoustic report prepared by ATP Consulting Engineers (ATP150314-L-NIA-01) dated 9 October 2015 for the Village Bicycle at Shop 1, 2 Bottlebrush Avenue in Noosa Heads. 1. Project Background The noise impact assessment by ATP Consulting Engineers, dated 9 October 2015, demonstrated that the noise emissions from Village Bicycle complies with the environmental noise criteria, provided a 2m high acoustic fence is constructed along the north-eastern boundary with Bottlebrush Avenue. Noosa Council has requested a “more robust solution”, therefore this report considers raising height of the fence to 2.6m. 2. Environmental Noise Criteria
Noosa Council requires that the noise levels from Village Bicycle do not exceed the limits
presented in Table 2.1, at the nearest noise sensitive receptors.
Table 2.1 Noise Criteria
Criteria
Period Objective
(LAeq,adj,T)1
Day 55
Background noise level (LA90,T)2 + 5dB(A)

Evening 50

3. Noise Propagation Modelling
The SoundPLAN noise propagation model was modified as follows:
Height of the acoustic fence on the north-eastern boundary of the café was raised to 2.6
metres.
The calculated noise levels at the nearest apartments at No. 1 Bottlebrush Avenue, considering
patron and music noise emissions from Village Bicycle café when operating at full occupancy (1-
hour period of highest noise), are presented in Table 3.1 and Appendix A.

4. Discussion The results of the noise propagation modelling indicate compliance with the relevant environmental noise criteria at all times. The proposed 2.6m high acoustic fence should follow the alignment of the existing fence. Acceptable construction for the 2.6m acoustic fence is overlapping timber palings, fibre-cement, or any other material with a minimum density of 12.5 kg/m2. ATP Consulting is satisfied that with the proposed 2.6 metre high acoustic fence and implementation of the other noise control measures as outlined in the detailed report dated 24 June 2015 (ATP150314-NIA-02), the operation of Village Bicycle café will not result in unreasonable noise at the nearest noise sensitive places. Should you have any questions about the noise assessment presented in this document, please do not hesitate to contact our office on (07) 5593 0487.
