2.2.5 Survey limitations
The information presented in this report is subject to survey limitations. The protected plant flora
survey was conducted to identify the presence of EVNT flora species within the clearing impact area.
This report is specific to the findings of the protected plant flora survey and does not provide a
description of the entire ecological values of the clearing impact area.
Furthermore, this report does not provide a comprehensive list of all flora species within the clearing
impact area but rather a description of any EVNT species in addition to the dominant species which
define the vegetation communities present. It is important to note that some least concern or special
least concern flora species may not have been identified due to a lack of fertile material or plants lying
dormant at the time of the survey.
To complete the site survey, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) environmental constraints
layers were uploaded onto a Trimble Juno (Trimble Juno SB Outdoor Handheld GPS GIS Mapping
Data Collector), with an integrated GPS used to locate surveys areas. Handheld Garmin GPS units
(GPS map 78s) were also used during the flora field survey. It should be noted that while efforts were
made to ensure the GPS co-ordinates provided in this report are accurate, a margin of error of
approximately +/- 10 m is expected due to the limitations of the devices used and the recording
environment.
2.3 Field survey team
2.3.1 Suitably qualified personnel
Cassandra Arkinstall, Lead Ecologist
Cassandra is a Commonwealth Department of Environment (DoE) accredited Ecologist with 8 years of
experience in the design and implementation of flora surveys and ecological impact assessments.
Cassandra has experience in both flora and fauna surveys, in a wide range of BioRegions (ie inland to
costal). Cassandra has specialised her skills in the field of targeted threatened species surveys (flora
and fauna), vegetation mapping and verification and wetland surveys.
Since joining Aurecon in 2010, Cassandra has been involved in ecological assessments both in
Queensland and South Australia, for coal seam gas, mining and civil infrastructure projects.
Chelsea Karena, Ecologist
Chelsea is an Environmental Scientist and Ecologist with Aurecon’s Environment and Advisory team
in Brisbane. Chelsea has 4.5 years industry experience and has a Certification in the Regional
Ecosystem Mapping and BioCondition Assessment Methodologies. Her specialist skills include
ecology and environmental assessments, including both desktop and field surveys. Chelsea has been
involved a wide range of projects in Queensland and has experience in environmental risk
assessments, targeted flora and fauna surveys, environmental auditing and compliance.
Detailed CVs are provided in Appendix C.
