Not Properly Made Submission (Duplicate) Jennifer Sadler MCU12/0216
Quarry and White Pit Quarry). This represents 30,000 movements per year x 2
years.
This is a very serious discrepancy, and because of it, the correctness of the Traffic Im-
pact study is in doubt.
I believe that 50 trucks a day entering and exiting the site 6 days a week (6am to 6pm
Monday-to-Friday and 7am to 3pm on Saturdays) will cause serious disturbance to resi-
dents living along the haulage route from noise and dust, as well as hold ups to these
residents and residents living further out in the Forest Acres area when travelling into Co-
oroy. Lake Macdonald Drive is only a two lane road. The impact of 100 trucks a day
would of course be double that of 50.
In the next paragraph ((b) Internal and External Vehicle Movements at the Brickworks
Factory Site) states
‘CSR have advised that this is less than the vehicle traffic movements for the past
mining lease operations associated with the former brickworks operation.
CSR have advised that approximately 32,400 vehicle movements were generated
by the brickworks operation over a 1 year period (for the past operations) for
haulage of material into the brickworks factory site and delivery of brick products
to the market.
As such, the traffic volumes for the proposed operations are less than the
traffic volumes for the past operations associated with the brickworks factory’.
In the two weeks available for research into the Material Change of Use I have been un-
able to ascertain if the brickworks, while in operation had 32,400 vehicle movements per
year. Long term residents that I spoke to believe that this is not correct and that the vol-
ume of traffic from the brickworks was much less. I have tried to get accurate information
from Council without success at this stage.
Also it isn’t clear what the pay load of the trucks or if they had a dog attached, were run-
ning when the brickworks were in operation. This makes it hard to make an accurate
comparison.
3. Other suggestions for your consideration.
Anecdotally I have heard that there is now what is thought to be clay in 6 Mile
Creek behind Old Coach Way, Lake Macdonald. This is possibly because of the
movement of clay from a CSR mining lease elsewhere in Cooroy that is happen-
ing at present. Six Mile Creek is populated by platypus and an impact assessment
should be conducted on the Six Mile Creek to ascertain how well the platypus will
survive if there is further impact to their environment if the MCU is approved.
There is clay on Lake Macdonald Drive now. Clay on the road is a serious prob-
lem for vehicles, both car and motorbike. Action should be included in a success-
ful application to prevent clay being spilled on the road and when it is, cleaned up
at CSRs expense.
Thankyou for your consideration
Jennifer Sadler
