SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 11 OCTOBER 2022
Venue hire was up $9K
Bar and Kiosk sales were up $10K
Equipment hire was up $14K
Lease revenue fell by $5K (based of USC lease finalization)
Pleasingly, The J saw very strong revenue performance from venue hire rebounding back to
pre-Covid levels at $182K, compared to $192K for 2018/19 before the pandemic hit.
Bar and kiosk sales rose dramatically as well, back up to $125K which is in line with 2018/19
figures and highlight people's confidence in utilizing all the venue’s service offerings as they re-
engage back into live shows and performances.
Controllable expenses were below budget as well coming in at $86K under budget which was
a very solid result, and most of this coming from employee benefits $52K, and materials and
services at $33K under budget.
The snapshot of historical performance below shows that the net operating result for The J has
remained relatively consistent over recent years but has bounced back to pre-covid levels. This
is particularly pleasing given the restraints on the venue over the past two years.
