1.4 Project Outline
This project involves obtaining RE vegetation benchmark data from remnant vegetation
reference sites detailed in the ORP, to compare to field data assessment of vegetation
condition within OA’s. Further information on the ORP can be found below in section 2.2.
Assessments using the Regional Ecosystem Assessment Kit, Version 1.0 (DES, 2022)
determine if an area should have the RE type or status of vegetation (i.e., regrowth to
remnant) updated within the State RE mapping (DES, 2022). The field data obtained will
verify the status and condition of vegetation within the OA’s which will inform applications
to DES to have suitable areas updated to remnant status within QLS State RE mapping.
Further information on the RE Assessment Kit is shown below in section 3.0.
2.0 Offset Site
2.1 Site Description
The offset receiving site is comprised of 27 OA’s spread across 20 SEQ Water owned
allotments and situated surrounding Lake Macdonald within proximity to Cooroy-Noosa
Road (Latitude -26.4047/ Longitude 152.5478). OA’s are situated surrounding the upper
(southern) reaches of Lake Macdonald and upon small islands as shown in Figure 1.
Table 1 below shows a summary of the offset site area, with allotments and associated
OA number, the individual and total area of the OA’s as well as their location.
