SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 6 DECEMBER 2016
What next?
The draft Corporate Plan is presented to Council for adoption for the purpose of public
consultation. The consultation proposed is:
Community consultation
We will be seeking community comment on the draft Corporate Plan via Your Say Noosa. The
particular emphasis will be on feedback on the proposed vision, themes etc and asking the
community for comment on the draft plan. We may also seek feedback on how our community
thinks we are “Different by nature” via the submission of photographs or the like.
Staff consultation
A copy of the draft Corporate Plan is being provided to our staff to comment.
Timing
The legislation does not prescribe a defined term for consultation. Given that we are coming into
the Christmas period, it is proposed (with Council’s approval) to commence the community
consultation immediately following the Committee meeting and to allow one month for any
comment. This would enable any comments to be considered and incorporated into a final
document for presentation to the January Council meeting.
Previous Council Consideration
The current Corporate Plan was adopted by Council in June 2014.
Finance & Risk
A local government is required to have a Corporate Plan under the Local Government Act. A
good Corporate Plan helps set a clear direction for the organisation and a poor one runs the risk
of inconsistent long term planning and a lack of consensus about a strategic direction.
Consultation
External Consultation - Community & Stakeholder
The purpose of adopting the draft Corporate Plan is to enable public consultation to occur.
Internal Consultation
The development of the draft Corporate Plan has involved input and consultation with the Mayor
and Councillors via a series of facilitated workshops, review by the Leadership Team and the
opportunity for input from managers and staff.
