Material Change of Use – Outdoor Sport and Recreation (Temporary Use)
4. Proposed Development
4.1. Overview
This application seeks to obtain development approval to facilitate the relocation of the existing Lake Macdonald
Rowing Club to an alternative area within the site. The proposed new location will be adjacent to the Lake Macdonald
Boat Ramp within the Lake Macdonald Park known also as Noosa Botanical Gardens and Day Use Area (see Figure
7 below), and will be located within this location until such time as proposed dam works administered by Seqwater
are complete. As such, the proposed use is temporary in nature.
The preferred site is just north of the park entry, next to the existing Lake Macdonald boat ramp. This location was
selected as it minimises obstruction of lake views for park users while providing convenient access to the lake for
rowers.
Figure 7: Site Location
The Lake Macdonald Rowing Club is very small-scale, with the extent of the proposed use outlined below:
• Maximum Participants on-site: Maximum nine (9) rowers, typically four (4) at a time;
• Hours of Operation: Sunrise to 9:30am and 3:30pm to sunset, seven (7) days a week;
• Car Parking: A maximum of nine (9) (or less than) cars, of which participants will utilise the existing formal
car park. Notably, no trailers would be required as boats will be stored on-site;
• Storage: One (1) 40ft shipping container with an attached roof structure for equipment, ideally painted by a
local artist (see Figure 8).
