resulting in their perception of the loudness and frequency content of the entertainment changing throughout the performance. The easiest way for Management to check for compliance is to use a simple Class 2 or Type 2 sound level meter2. The meter must be set to C-weighting and a fast time response. To conduct a compliance check measurement the meter is positioned at Locations A and B, described as 3.0m from the front of the speakers, along the centreline between the speakers. 2 These meters are readily available from retailers such as Jaycar and eBay. A meter with a digital display is recommended for ease of use. Smart phone sound level meter applications such as those designed for the iPhone cannot be used unless a third-party external microphone with a frequency response down to 50Hz is utilised as the in-built microphone frequency response below 200Hz is inadequate. Android based smart phone applications must not be used due to the lack of calibration and consistency across different smart phone brands. © SoundBASE Consulting Engineers Pty Ltd Sunshine Beach Surf Club 10 February 2020 Entertainment Noise Testing 19099-01-R01B-Entertainment Noise Test Report.docx Page 22
