Letter of Support to Suncoast Healing and Yoga My name is Suzannah Montano, resident of Noosa Shire council 42 Harlow Cres, Tewantin. I am writing this letter of support for Suncoast Healing and Yoga to assist in their appeal to gain approval for reopening of full operation hours. I have been a client of Jenny's for over 5 years now, referring many family members and friends to her over the years as well. I first met Jenny as one of our close by neighbours, she had been renting a house around the corner for many years (7). Over this time our street and neighbours and our family knew her as very respectful, clean, quiet and kind neighbour and I know her landlords have been very happy with her too. This demonstrates her character as someone who always thinks of others and does not undertake activities that offend others. Jenny's business offers incredible health solutions to people of our community that our current local mainstream medical system can simply not address. Our GP system is overpriced, underdelivered and impossible to get continuity or appointments when needed. We need other options available for our community and we need the operation hours to be realistic for working people, i.e. after hours and weekends available. Although often considered 'alternative care', what Jenny offers in her Yoga classes, Reiki sessions and massage is probably one of the most effective treatments I have ever received over the years and I know many others feel the same. Not only is it effective, it is handled with such care, something we cannot find in our modern medical system and which is evidence-based a major factor in positive health rehabilitation. If we are serious about our community's health and mental health then Suncoast Healing and Yoga must be given priority to open and be able to provide our community with the services it so desperately needs. Not only is it a health care business, it is a point of community connection for many people and again this is an evidence-based major factor for overall wellbeing, that our community feels connected. I refer at the bottom of this letter Noosa Council's vision for Wellbeing. Where this business is located, there are very few neighbours and absolute minimum pollution is produced. Again, if we are really serious about becoming a 'green' community as Noosa sells itself as, then this business must be given priority. Jenny lives and breathes, simplicity, recycling, reusing and reducing philosophy in her business. Having set up her rooms with only recycled and donated furniture Jenny always has environment at forefront of mind. Yoga is a quiet activity, that produces no waste products, her Reiki and massage are silent activities and her class sizes are not large therefore I believe the impact on surrounding neighbours is minimal. A review of her current limitations being placed upon her business and reasonable decision must be made.

Rather than succumbing to pressures of a small group of land owners, as a council it is your responsibility to think and advocate for the greater good, the wider community, not just a handful. I draw attention to Noosa Councils draft Health and Wellbeing Plan 2019-24 I would suggest that producing a document as such, requires the council to abide by its own recommendations: P.3 World Health Org definition: Wellbeing is defined as 'not just the absence of disease or illness. It is a complex combination of a person's physical, mental, emotional and social health factors. Wellbeing is strongly linked to happiness and life satisfaction. In short, wellbeing could be described as how you feel about yourself and your life.' 5.1 Council's Vision P.5 The Corporate Plan defines Council's desired outcomes for the Noosa community. These include:______ • Noosa Shire is an active and healthy community • Our community capacity has increased and community needs are being met • Our health and aged care sectors are meeting the needs of our demographic. P.4 Positive community health outcomes are reliant on partnerships between government agencies, service providers, local organisations, non-government agencies and the community. Councils have a key role in advocating and facilitating partnerships (internal and external) to deliver and support key actions to promote health and wellbeing and minimise disease and health risk burden. A whole of community approach to health and wellbeing is required to ensure all of Council's operations and its external partners work towards the same objectives. 7.2.1 Focus on prevention for a healthier Australia Thank you for reconsidering current limitations put upon Suncoast Healing and Yoga. Like many others who attend Suncoast Yoga and Healing, I was in desperate need of back pain relief. I had also hoped to gain skills which would enable me to manage multiple, compounding mental stressors. I achieved this, and more. In the short time I have been attending Suncoast Yoga and Healing I have experienced exponential holistic health benefits. My lower back pain is rapidly diminishing. I have increased mental health resilience and my sense of community has deepened. I have attended Yoga sessions in the past, however I have never been on an all-encompassing mind and body Yoga journey as I have at this Tinbeerwah sanctuary. I do not have the words to express how grateful I am to Jen and the team who have given me back more than I could have hoped for. This convalescence has given me freedom from chronic pain, increased flexibility and given me fortitude. As a result. I continue to carry out my profession at my highest capacity, aiding in effective resuscitation, improving critical illness outcomes, and educating and empowering patients. My family, friends, neighbours etc also gain from my significantly improved physical and emotional health. I am excited for my journey to continue at Suncoast however it is sadly impaired. Due to the combination of a limited timetable, restricted class numbers and my work commitments of 12-hour shifts including days/nights/weekdays and weekends, I am fortunate if I can attend one class a week. I would very much love the option of more classes. I attribute my recovery not only to the wonderful team, but also the healing surrounds of nature at the idyllic property at the base of Mount Tinbeerwah. I am aware that the issue is regarding residential environmental noise. Please try and understand that my fellow community members who attend Suncoast are seeking the same, if not similar, healing and solace that I did. We are a quiet, nature respecting, human-centred group who arrive at this magnificent Tinbeerwah property seeking peace, we find it, and we take that with us and share it. Please assist Suncoast Healing and Yoga Centre in helping our community by alleviating the burden of our modern life stressors through imparting their wisdom and knowledge and spreading peace and happiness, This holistic approach to heath cannot be achieved in a brightly lit, loud gymnasium, the peaceful natural sounds and silence of Mount Tinbeerwah is an integral part of the healing journey. Really, you should come and try it! Only then will you truly know the benefits. I kindly thank you for your consideration on this matter. Yours truly, Heike Cevasco

To Whom It May Concern,
I was most upset to find out that the classes that are run by Jennifer at Suncoast Healing and Yoga
have been restricted by Noosa Council.
In this day and age, where such lovely and peaceful healing modalities are needed more than ever by
people, how you could restrict the classes to no later than 6pm in the evening just doesn't make
sense.
I work full time and cannot make classes within the times you have specified for Jennifer to be able
to run her classes. I need yoga and meditation to assist with balancing out a sedentary job sitting
down all day, together with anxiety.
The classes are quiet and peaceful. I am not sure why and cannot make sense of such a decision by
Noosa Council to restrict these?

I was so disappointed to hear the news from Jen last week that her classes have been restricted by council.
I am new to the area, having moved earlier this year to Noosa from interstate. It has taken me months of searching to FINALLY find a place to practice yoga that
doesn't feel like a gym or a factory with huge numbers of students packed in - and I was so grateful to find Suncoast Healing Yoga in the hinterland. It's a gentle and
respectful haven. Just the drive in through the forest has an immediate calming effect on my body, mind and nervous system. The venue is so serene and moulds
itself into the nature around it, creating a real sanctuary and offering calm and quiet for my busy mind, a place to restore my energy and wellbeing. It surprises me
that anyone would file a complaint about such a hidden gem? One of it's endearing qualities is the size of the building itself, the small numbers in the classes - the
homeliness of it all.
Jen is a beautiful teacher and in the few short weeks I have been attending I have looked forward to my weekly classes with her. Not only is the yoga itself an
essential component of my week - but what Jen offers creates a community of like minded people. For me, this eases the loneliness of being new to the area.
As a yoga teacher myself, I am well aware of the numerous health benefits to the community at large of a regular yoga practice and the connection it creates, with
self and others. We all know the importance of self nurture - whether it be through physical activity, spiritual pursuits or just keeping company with others. In fact,
we are actively encouraged by medical professionals to take time out and attend to our mental and physical health, so that we are not draining the system in the long
term. Suncoast Healing offers this opportunity - and to limit access seems to be working in the opposite direction?
With the busyness of the world, and varying working hours (as they have become since Covid) I believe it's really important to offer this opportunity to others who
are unable to attend during working hours. All gyms, sports clubs etc schedule classes/sessions for early morning, the end of the day, or on the weekend to cater to
this group of people. Those not fortunate enough to be able to attend regularly might benefit from the occasional workshop that offers the benefits of a yoga class
and gathering.
I sincerely hope that the decision is reconsidered and adjusted to offer more opportunity to the local community and that Jen is able to operate as she previously
was, without disturbing the peace and beauty of the neighbourhood.

Dear Jen
I was devastated to learn that Noosa Council have restricted your hours of business to run your yoga and healing classes during the week and weekends.
So many of us cannot attend during 9-5 Mon-Fri because we work! Therefore, evening and weekends are the only time available to
us.
As a Tinbeerwah resident, I am absolutely thrilled that you have created such a unique, beneficial wellness space in the heart of our small community. Given the
discreet location of the premises, the quiet nature of the business and the lack of impact it has on the natural setting, I am shocked that residents would even notice
- let alone be inconvenienced- by the few classes you run in the evenings and on weekends.
I fully support your application to resume operating evenings and weekends, in order to provide your highly respected - and much needed - therapeutic services
within our Tinbeerwah community.
Thank you and best of luck! I look forward to the return of your full timetable soon.
Best,
Christine

REF: SUNCOAST HEALING & YOGA
In light of the recent complaint due to compliance issues with the running of the Suncoast
Healing & Yoga I wish to put forward my own personal experience to support the
continuation of this practice and particularly the importance of the availability of evening
and weekend classes forthose of us in the community who work full time. We need to
promote, not restrict these classes.
I have been struggling to manage anxiety and panic attacks during and post menopause and
have found the Suncoast Healing & Yoga a lifeline in providing me with tools to help teach
me to control my emotions, slowing down my mind and body to a more relaxed state of
calmness and to assist me in introducing this into my daily life to basically, help me cope.
It took me a long time to find the courage to seek out suitable yoga classes and I fear the
thought of having to look elsewhere now. This studio is local and easy for me to get to, in a
beautiful surrounding and it's a safe environment.
For so many men and women who are balancing families, full time careers, caring
responsibilities, life is overwhelming. Businesses such as Jen's need assistance and support
for the hugely important role they play in helping an increasing number of people with their
struggles in this crazy busy world.
Kind regards
Michelle Davies

Dear Jen,
To the council and whom it may concern,
Thank you for reviewing the business proposal and hours allowed for Suncoast Yoga and Healing, at the Mt Tinbeerwah location.
I would like to offer my support for this business to be allowed to extend its hours of classes and workshops to include nights and weekends. The centre and yoga
teachers offer a very valuable service to our community. As a yoga therapist myself, I see the importance and impact that these classes and workshops hold for
peoples lives. They offer important spaces for connection, wellbeing and support which can be very transformational for participants. In a society with incredibly
high levels of stress and mental illness rates, especially following the pandemic, yoga is an evidence based and important complimentary treatment, that is making a
big difference.
Jen has created a very beautiful and peaceful space at her Mt Tinbeerwah studio, and all the classes and events I have attended have been very respectful and quiet,
with great care for the environmental impact and neighbourhood. I feel it is a great loss if they aren’t able to continue to their full capacity.
Thabk you for considering the positive impact of this business, supporting local small businesses, yoga teachers and the community.
Sincerely,
Sarita Sloane

Noos City Council 5 February 2024 Re: Suncoast Healing &Yoga Dear Madam/Sir We understand that after Suncoast Healing&Yoga moved to new location at Padma Jala in Tinbeerwah, Council imposed restrictions on number of hours and number of classes they can provide. We understand that Council followed the complains by some residents living in the area and impose restrictions. We do not know exactly what the complaints were about but the imposed restrictions impact severely operations of Suncoast Healimg&Yoga I have been attending Yoga classes now for 2.5 years with my wife. We are retired professional people. Yoga gives us relaxation and peace of mind. I am sure it does the same for other Yoggies. The new location is just dream location for the Yoga and meditation. It is very tranquil location. All of us really love this location. The classes are small and very quiet. I am sure that Yoga class activities do not disturb anyone living there. Jen can provide many different services in the area of Yoga and meditation. There are many people interested in joining but the restricted hours and days unable them to join. As for us not being able to have late hours classes unable us to join such a wonderful Yoga and meditation, which is great for our body and mind. Also, Jen could provide wonderful classes of meditation, relaxation, body movement and healing for everyone during weekend, which is very important for our community. Extending hours of service to 8pm and also for the weekend will help a lot to develop business and provide much better service to the community. Regards Margaret and Michal Stawski
Page 12
To the Noosa Council, I'd like to express my gratitude for the classes and services offered by Suncoast Healing and Yoga, and ask council to kindly consider the extension of operating hours. What Suncoast Healing and Yoga offers the community is invaluable. In a time when people live busy and stressed lives, the yoga classes, workshops, meditations and other offerings at Padma Jala are much needed and precious resources to find balance and well-being. Yoga and meditation are now widely known to be some of the most effective tools for mental and physical health and well-being. Unfortunately with people's work schedule and the current limited operation times, many of us have to miss out on the beautiful offerings and practices. For that reason I request Noosa Council to grant Suncoast Healing and Yoga permission to extend its operating hours and number of classes. Kind regards, Vivian Schoereder Kiamba [email protected]

To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Claudia and I am writing this letter to express the tremendous help Ten and Suncoast Healing and Yoga brings to the
community.
The authenticity of her teachings, the wonderful space and professionalism she offers is of incredible support for people physical,
mental and emotional wellbeing.
It would be so beneficial to extend the opportunity to attend classes later in the evenings and weekends.
Myself, as full time worker, find really hard to participate to any of her classes and I can see how this can impact my mental
state. I work with children and 8 hrs a day of giving can be mentally draining. My priority is keeping my cup full in order to fill
theirs every day.
Therefore I would really appreciate if you could consider allowing extra classes and think about the waterfall effect it could have
on many more people.
I sincerely thank you for your time and really hope you can help making our world a better place.
Warm wishes.
Claudia

Hello, We are writing this e-mail in support of Suncoast Yoga having an opportunity to expand their hours of service. We, my husband and I,
both feel strongly that this Yoga studio provides an unparalleled level of excellence. It is a place of serenity and the Yoga teachers are gentle,
kind, and supportive. The magnificent setting enhances all of the aspects of Yoga. As older adults we have had many Yoga classes both here
and in the United States, thus feel qualified to discern quality. Please seriously consider our request.

To Whom It May Concern
I've only just started coming to this beautiful and unique yoga studio. I can't recommend highly enough the health & healing aspects of the people & the place. I feel,
though, that it is unfair to restrict such a quiet & unintrusive event from happening - thus disallowing people who aren't able to make it during the week the important
benefits yoga & meditation creates.
Please reconsider the limitations & allow weekend classes.
Sincerely,
Di Lane
