MCU18.0166 - Response to Information Request (amended)
The VIAR has undertaken an assessment of the proposed facility when viewed from the Cooran Tablelands
Lookout, as well as from the main streets within Cooran (King and Queen Streets).
When viewed from the Cooran Tablelands Lookout, the level of visual impact is considered to be negligible.
The monopole would be seen against a vegetated hillside and rural backdrop and would be a relatively
small and simple element in this view (Figure 5). Overall, the monopole would comprise a small element on
a lower ridgeline in the middle ground when viewed from this location. It would be largely absorbed as it
would be seen against the backdrop of trees, rural and vegetated ridges. There would be no perceived
modification of the view. Please refer to the cross-section provided in Figure 6.23 of the VIAR – Appendix
A.
Figure 5: View south from Cooran Tablelands Lookout
When viewed from King Street located centrally in the town of Cooran, the level of visual impact is
considered to be negligible. The monopole would be seen from King Street on the rear side of the intervening
vegetated ridge, in the background of view (Figure 6). The upper portion of the tower would rise above the
vegetation on the site and be viewed against the more elevated vegetated ridgelines of the national park.
Please refer to the cross-section provided in Figure 6.33 of the VIAR – Appendix A.
