Dear Sir/Madam
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) has assessed the referral for the Building
Development Application for the premises listed below.
This report provides QFES advice to the assessment manager when considering the approval for
the application, regarding the degree to which the proposed building work meets the operational
requirements of QFES referral jurisdictions identified in the Planning Regulation 2017 (PR 2017).
• Where a Deemed to Satisfy (DTS) component is identified as being 'Suitable', it indicates:
within the parameters of QFES referral jurisdiction, the special fire service appears to meet
QFES operational requirements.
• Where a DTS component is identified as being 'Not Suitable' it indicates: within the
parameters of QFES referral jurisdiction, the special fire service does not comply with the
requirements of the applicable Codes or Standards or does not meet QFES operational
requirements for reasons identified.
• Where a Performance Solution (PS) component is identified as being 'Suitable' it indicates:
QFES accept, or has no comment on, the solution provided in the Fire Engineering Report.
• Where a PS component is identified as being 'Not Suitable' it indicates: QFES does not
accept the solution and/or the justification provided in the Fire Engineering Report for
reasons identified.
QFES advice should not be construed as verification that the proposed building work complies with
the requirements of applicable Codes and Standards. The assessment manager is advised that
assessment benchmarks within the PR 2017 must be addressed and documented in the Decision
Notices. QFES appeals may be instigated against these benchmarks insofar as they relate to
QFES referral jurisdictions.
