o Car hit by date
▪ 2014-2016 = 5
▪ 2012-2014 = 4
▪ 2010-2012 = 3
▪ 2000-2010 = 2
▪ Pre2000 = 1
• Perform kernel density (200m) on sightings and on HBC
• Reclassify sightings grid and hbc grids back to 5 natural break classes?
o Reclassify
o 0-2 = 0
o 2-15 = 1
o 15-50 = 2
o 50-500 = 3
o >500 = 4
• Mosaic sighting and HBC grids using Max value = denmax
Combined road risk - high connectivity and Density
Connectivity + Max Density = denmax_con (total risk) values from 0-10 with 10 being highest risk i.e. High
density of sightings or recent car hits and high connectivity.
• Convert demmax_con to poly
• Intersect demmax con poly with Road types 1-4 and 5 (slower streets are still important particularly in
built-up areas around core habitat/multiple sightings, possibility to reduce speed limit or have signs or
even slow designs
Show values 5-10. Hotspots >=5
5 – generally high connectivity (middle of core hab) or otherwise large concentration of koala sightings
10 – high connectivity and high sightings/recent car hits
