Recommendations for Additional Infrastructure and Cost Estimates
The audit and gap analysis identified potential for additional hard and soft infrastructure within 10 regions
and soft infrastructure within 11 of regions. The general approach is to:
• prevent koala access to the road surface and provide a passage way under the road where possible
• provide escape routes in areas where there are koala records or where there is potential for koalas to
become trapped on the road
• slow traffic and inform motorists of koala activity in areas where koalas must cross the road surface
Detailed tables listing defects, gap analysis and recommendations are provided. A summary of estimated
costs associated with the recommendations for each region is also provided.
