EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Noosa Shire Council’s Mayor – Cr Stewart, Deputy Mayor – Cr Wilkie, Cr Lorentson, Cr Finzel
and the CEO of Noosa Council will be attending the LGAQ Conference from 17 - 20 October
2022. As a result, Council will not meet the required attendance of Councillors for quorum as
per Standing Orders. Therefore the below recommendation to the Council defers both the
General Committee and Ordinary Meeting dates for October 2022 to one week later that
originally advertised.
RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Chief Executive Officer to the Services & Organisation
Committee Meeting dated 9 August 2022 and request the Chief Executive Officer:
A. Defer the date of the General Committee from 17 October 2022 to 24 October 2022; and
B. Defer the date of the Ordinary Meeting from 20 October 2022 to 27 October 2022.
REPORT
Attendance at the LGAQ Conference by Councillors is supported by the CEO as an important
professional development opportunity for the Councillors. Unfortunately, the advised meeting
schedule clashes with this year’s conference dates. The recommendation to defer the General
Committee and Ordinary Meeting will ensure the delivery of Council business as per the
requirements of the Local Government Regulation and Noosa Shire Council Standing Orders in
meeting the required quorum. The excerpt of the Local Government Regulation 2012 is below:
Local Government Regulation 2012 as per stated:
254B Public notice of meetings
(1) A local government must, at least once in each year, publish a notice of the days and
times when—
(a) its ordinary meetings will be held; and
(b) the ordinary meetings of its standing committees will be held.
(2) The notice mentioned in subsection (1) must be published on the local government’s
website, and in other ways the local government considers appropriate.
(3) A local government must display in a conspicuous place in its public office a notice of the
days and times when—
(a) its meetings will be held; and
(b) meetings of its committees will be held.
