ORDINARY MEETING AGENDA 17 FEBRUARY 2022
3. The proposed offices are contrary to the Strategic Intent and Outcomes for the
Shire as commercial offices are intended to be located in the defined centres and
key visitor areas intended for tourism activities.
4. There is no need for additional land or floor space outside the designated business
centres for offices.
B. Find the following matters relevant to the assessment and sufficient reason to approve
the application:
1. The proposal is consistent with the Tourist accommodation zone overall outcome
2(b) which envisages that visitor accommodation in the urban areas is supported
by a mix of business activities which create a vibrant atmosphere and complement
and enhance the function and attractiveness of the area as a visitor destination
2. The office space will encourage business tourism and act as an incubator for start-
up businesses and is of a scale that is ancillary to the visitor accommodation.
3. The office space is of a nature and scale that is compatible with the mixed-use
character and coastal amenity of the area.
4. The proposed office space will not compromise the viability of the Noosa Shire
centres hierarchy considering the specific nature of office space and it small gross
floor area.
