Schedule 1: Electric Bus Vehicle Specifications
General:
The buses are to be modern, visually attractive, and environmentally compatible, offer a high
level of comfort and safe, ergonomic design for driver, passengers and maintenance
personnel and be of minimum weight commensurate with adequate strength. The buses shall
be designed to withstand the dynamic and operational loads imposed under the specified
service conditions.
Number of buses:
The Lessor will be responsible for calculating the optimal number of electric buses required
to perform the route 627 timetable at the current frequency and service span. The working
timetable for route 627 is contained in the Invitation to Tender Attachment 10 including all
route variants. TransLink may consider some trip shifting if this will result in reducing the
number of buses required. GTFS files for the route 627 alignment and stop locations are
available at http://translink.com.au/about-translink/open-data
In determining the optimal number of buses required, the Lessor is expected to consider at a
minimum the impact of local Noosa operating conditions on battery range taking into
consideration:
Route length, service span, frequency and timetable for Sunbus route 627
Route alignment and terrain
Dwell time at bus stops
The climatic conditions in Noosa Shire
Requirements for air-conditioning
Length of depot pull trips fromthe Council depot at Bartlett St, Noosaville
Patronage impact on GVM
Minimum recharging time for charge infrastructure in Diyan St and Hasting St bus
stop at Noosa Parade
Minimum shift lengths and driver changeover requirements and any other special
arrangements for Sunbus staff, outlined in their Enterprise Bargaining Agreement at
https://www.fwc.gov.au/documents/documents/agreements/fwa/AE412024.pdf
Operating Conditions:
The route has a range of operating conditions with flat and hilly terrain, different speed limits
and a mixture of straight sections of roadway and local streets with traffic calming devices
and roundabouts.
