RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Coordinator Environmental Health to the Services and
Organisational Committee Meeting dated 11 February 2020, and
A.                       Adopt the Noosa Community Health and Wellbeing Plan 2019-2024, as provided at
                         Attachment 1 to the report; and
B.                       Approve the proposed Noosa Community Health and Wellbeing Plan 2019-2024 Action
                         Plan, subject to consideration of any resourcing requirements being determined as part of
                         the 2020/21 annual budget process.


REPORT
The purpose of this report is to present the final Noosa Community Health and Wellbeing Plan
2019-2024 (the Plan) to Council for adoption and seek endorsement for the Noosa Community
Health and Wellbeing Plan 2019-2023 Action Plan, subject to budget consideration.

1. Background

In 2015, Noosa Council endorsed the Noosa Social Strategy (2016) which included the theme:
“Active and Healthy Communities”. The development of a Community Health and Wellbeing Plan
was a key action to be delivered under this theme.

In 2017, Council’s Community Services Department commenced the process to develop a
Community Health and Wellbeing Plan. A draft Noosa Community Health and Wellbeing Plan
was developed following extensive research and consultation and was endorsed by Council for
community consultation in December 2018.

The completion of the process was delayed due to the resignation of the former Environmental
Health Coordinator and recruitment of a new Coordinator.

2. Purpose

The Noosa Community Health and Wellbeing Plan is one of a number of plans (the others being
the Noosa Cultural Plan and the Noosa Sport & Active Recreation Plan) developed under the
Noosa Social Strategy.
