5 CONCLUSION
Whilst the proposed reconfigured lots for the use of detached residential dwellings are likely to achieve the
minimum freeboard requirements above the flood levels, risk to vehicles and residents remain should they
attempt to traverse the flood waters.
The risks associated with flooding of the developed site can be managed through awareness and provides for
flood free access for vehicles and pedestrians up to and including the 1%AEP flood event in the Noosa River
from the developed site.
It is critical that all residents familiarise themselves with the risks associated with flooding and be made aware
of the early warning services and emergency access route along Lake Weyba Drive to Eenies Creek Road.
◼ Preference has been given in this FEMP for a Shelter In Place strategy above floor levels which are at
or above the PMF level. This is presented as the primary emergency response strategy. Floor levels above
the PMF that provide a high refuge area must be provided as condition of proposed development of
detached residential dwellings.
◼ The secondary strategy involves a Self-Evacuation of residents in response to the emergency siren via
the evacuation route along Lake Weyba Drive and Eenies Creek Road.
