Flood Source
As outlined previously, the site is located on the banks of Lake Weyba which forms part of the Noosa River
catchment. The site is exposed to flooding from the Noosa River and from Storm Tide inundation. Flooding
from the Noosa River (of which Lake Weyba forms part) dominates the flood risk at the site and is addressed
specifically in this FEMP.
Flooding at the site can consist of any (or a combination) of the following mechanisms:
◼ slow moving ‘backwater’ type flooding from high storm-tide events,
◼ slow moving ‘backwater’ type flooding from Noosa River flooding,
◼ localised flooding in response to a localised rainfall event in the Lake Weyba catchment.
Figure A-1 illustrates the Noosa Council’s existing flood hazard mapping at the site and general locality based
on the Council interactive mapping. Figure A-2 shows Noosa Council’s Storm Tide inundation mapping.
