Plans and drawings: the text below has words only, no drawings.
ACTIONS REQUIRED FOR PRIMARY STRATEGY “SHELTER IN PLACE”
Action 1:
No preparation for evacuation is required under Shelter in Place strategy
If you lose communications and/or cannot find relevant flood warning information, it is critical that you continue
to physically inspect the level of Flood Height Gauge at 135 Lake Weyba Drive.
Action 2:
You must prepare for widespread flooding that may cut local roads (not just Lake Weyba Drive) and disrupt
services.
Notify others of your decision:
Notify a reliable friend or relative of your decision to stay and how they can contact you.
Advise your Local Police Station in Noosa Heads that you are staying based on Lake Weyba Drive. Give
them details of your residential address and the number of persons staying.
Have arrangement for loss of power:
Assume that the flood event may result in loss of electric power. Your emergency kit should include a battery-
powered radio, torches, battery powered or gas lights and enough batteries or gas to last for the period of
power loss.
Gasoline generators may compensate for loss of electric power, but require knowledge and planning to operate
safely.
Never position a generator indoors or where its exhaust fumes may enter a living space. Remember that the
storage of adequate fuel supplies is an additional safety consideration and limits the duration of this alternate
source of power.
Have arrangement for communications:
Fully charge all electronic communication devices prior to power being lost. Only use devices sparingly to
conserve battery power. Have a fully charged portable charger for charging electronic communication devices
once power is lost.
Despite these precautions, electronic communication services will likely be lost when the flood event affects
areas other than your location.
Have arrangement for cooking and boiling water:

Prepare outdoor cooking appliances (e.g. bar-b-ques, charcoal grills and camp stoves). Ensure ample fuel
supplies are on hand.
Have arrangement for water supply
Ensure there is a sufficient supply of drinking water available. Allow for 2 litres per person, per day.
