Supplementary Ecological Assessment Report
Noosa Civic Expansion
3 Results and Conclusions
3.1 Targeted Frog Survey
Consistent with previous survey findings, the Wallum Froglet (Crinia tinnula) was confirmed within the Study
Area during aural surveys. This species was heard calling in the far south east corner of the Study Area, in a
small area behind the existing truck access and along the artificial drain that connects the area behind the
existing truck access to the southern end of Covenant J (Figure 1 and Plate 1). No other threatened frog
species were detected during the survey. A list of all frog species detected during the survey is provided in
Table 3-1.
Plate 1. Shallow drain at the toe of the bottom of Hoffman Drive. This area drains the area behind the
existing truck access to the southern end of Covenant J.
In addition to the Wallum Froglet, the site supports potential habitat for the following threatened frog species:
> Wallum Sedgefrog (Litoria olongburensis). Likely to occur within the Study Area. Habitat for this species
was confirmed within the south east corner of the study area (Figure 1);
> Green-thighed Frog (Litoria brevipalmata). Possible use of the southern extent of the Study Area around
depressions; and
> Wallum Rocketfrog (Litoria freycineti). Possible use of the southern extent of the Study Area around
depressions.
A review of threatened species habitat is provided in Appendix I of the Noosa Civic Expansion State and Local
Government Ecological Assessment Report (Cardno, 2014). The results of the latest targeted threatened frog
survey (February 2015) are consistent with these findings.
