I, Ian Barnes ,being a Practising Structural engineer of Ian Barnes and Associates Pty Ltd ,hereby certify
that:
I. I am responsible for the design ofthe Building Work described as:
Marine Pontoons and Walkways,
as depicted on: Drawings Numbered A2-52425-01E, A2-52425-02D, by
Ian Barnes and Associates Pty Ltd & SP-404/1, NP-404/1.
and Specifications: Typical Canal Cross-Section Reference Job No 96272

to be erected by: Vasard Marine for: J. Alizzi
At Job Site: No. 10 Noosa Parade, Noosa Heads
2. TIle above mentioned Building Work has been designed in accordance with the principles of Structural Mechanics. If
constructed reasonably in a Tradesmanlike manner by experienced persons and in accordance with the documents
listed above, the work will be structurally adequate for the anticipated usage and will be capable of sustaining the most
adverse combinations ofloads to which it will be subjected in accordance with the relevant provisions of 1he Building
Code of Australia, 1he Building Act, Standard Building By-laws, and generally in accordance with 1he following
Australian Standards or References:
AS 1170.1,AS1170.2,AS 1664
Department of Environment and Heritage’s "Guidelines for the Construction of Works on
Tidal Land or Waters for Private Use".
The works comply with the relevant codes -
including the ERPA’s operational policy,
building and engineering standardsfor tidal works
3. In particular, the specific Design Criteria and assumptions used in 1he Design are as follows:
(i) Wind Design (AS 1170.2) Region B,Non-Cyclonic
Basic Wind Speed Vp= 49 mls; Vu= 60 mls; Design Height z =
3.0 m
Design Wind Speed: Vzp= 41 mls (33mls for Canal Areas)
(ii) Water Current: l.5m1s
(iii) Uniformly Distributed Floor Live Load (AS1170.1): 2.0 kPa / l.4 kN

(iv) Minimum Freeboard at Design Live Load = 75 mm,with maximum 15 rotation
(v) Durability: The structural concrete and steelwork are designed and or protected against the following
