Slope Analysis 18 Hay St

1.0      INTRODUCTION
Caloundra Soil Tes ng was commissioned by Wim Brouwers to undertake a site inves ga on at 18 Hay
Street, Tewan n in the view to report the Site Classifica on in accordance with AS 2870-2011
(Residen al Slabs and Foo ngs).
It was understood that the proposed development will consist of a new residen al dwelling. It is
understood that the exis ng dwelling will be removed as part of this development.
The construc on type of the proposed dwelling will be single storey, combina on of clad and masonry
walls supported by strip/ pad foo ngs and a concrete slab.



2.0      INVESTIGATION
On the 17th March, 2022 a site inves ga on was undertaken which consisted of drilling 2 boreholes
with a hydraulic drilling rig.
The boreholes were drilled with a 100mm diameter con nuous flight auger to depth of 1.8 to 2.5
metres.
Disturbed soil samples were taken from the auger and assessed then logged by Civil Engineer.
Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) and Pocket Penetrometer (PP) tests were undertaken at various
depths with results shown on the a;ached bore log sheets.
The logged soil profiles and loca on of the bore holes are shown on the a;ached bore log and site plan
sheets.


3.0      SITE DESCRIPTION
The site has a slight fall towards the southern boundary and is currently occupied by an exis ng
dwelling. It is understood that the exis ng dwelling will be removed as part of this development.
There appeared to be a natural drainage line that runs along the southern boundary.
There were numerous large trees present across the site. It is understood that several of these trees
will be removed as part of this development. (Please refer to site plan for approximate loca ons).
The surface of the site was moist at the me of the inves ga on.
There was no visual evidence of surface cracking over the site.
Groundwater seepage was encountered at a depth of 1.2 metres below the exis ng surface level in
borehole 1.


          3.1      SITE GEOLOGY
         The “Australian Geology Travel Maps Applica on” shows the site underlain by Myrtle Sandstone
         Forma on with this generally being confirmed by findings during the inves ga on.
