REPORT
Background
The 2014/2015 Operational Plan identifies the development of a Social Plan for Noosa Shire as a
key objective. A proposed Noosa Social Plan has now been developed covering the period 2016-
2023 (The Social Plan) which sets out Noosa’s aspirations and social priorities for the next seven
years.
Evolving concurrently, Council has adopted a strategic policy framework outlining the hierarchical
relationship of Council Strategies and Plans. The framework identifies the development of the
Noosa Shire Social Strategy (Social Strategy).
A draft Social Strategy was presented to Council in September 2015 and was approved for public
exhibition and comment. A number of engagement techniques were used to gather feedback on
the draft between September and December 2015.
These included:
Council Pop Ups and Library displays
Workshop with State Government agencies
Workshop with Key Service Providers, community organisations and individuals
Individual discussions with key community organisations and representatives
Individual discussions with Council officers
Your Say Noosa
Council website
Facebook
Council Press Release and Community E News
All feedback received has been considered in the development and finalisation of the Strategy.
