EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Not applicable.

RECOMMENDATION
That Council note the report by the Noosa Community Support (NCS) Coordinator to the
Infrastructure & Services Committee meeting dated 8 December 2015 and provide approval to the
Chief Executive Officer to accept the Federal Government’s Commonwealth Home Support
Programme (CHSP) funding offer of $4.949m for the period 1 November 2015 to 30 June 2018.

REPORT
Noosa Community Suppport (NCS) provides invaluable services to aged and frail members of the
Noosa Community. This service has been run by Noosa Council for a number of years and
currently comprises the following activities:

Federal and State funded Home and Community Care (HACC) activities are as follows:
 Domestic assistance
 Social support
 Allied health care
 Personal care
 Centre-based day care
 In-home respite care
 Case management
 Counselling /support, information & advocacy
 Transport
 Home maintenance
 Home modifications

State funded Home Assist Secure (HAS) funded activities are as follows:
 Information and referrals regarding home safety and security
 Home maintenance
 Home modifications

A majority (almost 75%) of total funding for NCS has historically come from the federally funded
HACC program, a trend which is likely to continue into the future. The HACC program will now be
known as the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) which, for all intents and
purposes, remains unchanged in nature.
