PLANNING & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 3 MARCH 2015
The move to an alternate platform was cost-prohibitive with almost no advantages to Council
that the current platform could not already provide. Resolute will continue to service the
current platform. Council may revisit the opportunity to consider other options when the
platform has been better tried and tested and becomes less of an ongoing financial impost.
New Templates
The new templates for the new look and feel of the website became available in late
January. IT and CE Branch are working together to gather the required images and text
before going live with the new templates week in the week of 23 February. The roll-out of the
new templates will be gradual as IT and CE Branch work with departments to ensure optimal
functionality, navigation and “state-of-the-art” and consistent “look and feel.”
Copy Review
CE Branch has begun a detailed page-by-page review of all website text as part of the
process to ensure the accuracy, quality and consistency of information contained on the
website.
Minor issues with page functionality and clarity are being dealt with as part of the systematic
website review process that has been in place for some months.
CE Branch has prepared an Online Writing Style Guide to assist departments with future
website copy so that the overall website is maintained to a consistent and high quality
standard.
Emerging Technologies and Skill Development
CE Branch provided website publishing approval process during the summer holiday period
and now provides periodical back-up for IT when required. CE Branch is now proficient in the
“back end” of website publishing, “slider” production and YSN.
In addition, CE Branch staff members have undergone training in the use of Wevideo, a
video editing suite Council has recently purchased that enables cutting-edge video footage
to be posted on the website. Already video footage of the Cooroy Butter Factory community
engagement project and the Community Jury are on Council’s website on YSN and the new
website template has a place for video footage on Council’s homepage.
BRAND MANUAL
CE Branch has completed a new Brand Manual which provides a variety of colour palettes,
logo variations and templates for a variety of internal and external documents, reports and
promotional items.
The Noosa Brand retains Council’s logo that reflects Noosa’s values and lifestyle and which
the community felt strongly about at the time of the de-amalgamation.
CE Branch’s Communications Officer works with departments to ensure Noosa Council
brand consistency in the development of new and existing Council facilities brands, across
all mediums including online.
In order to improve the overall quality of presentation of reports and other documents, and to
reduce the cost of using external providers, CE Branch is up-skilling in use of Indesign
software and is providing training to relevant departmental personnel. Two major reports
have been successfully produced in-house using Indesign.
