The grant application for the Cities Deal funding to establish a Smart Mobility Lab within the Peregian Digital Hub precinct was unsuccessful. Council continued engaging with the adjacent landowner within the innovation precinct to explore potential synergies with the proposed development of that site as a Hub phase 3. On 17 Feb 2026, the Digital Hub Director presented a proposal to Council to enter a non-binding Heads of Agreement with the landowner which would involve the future leasing of the facility, when complete, to operate it as an extension of the Digital Hub. The proposal to enter the agreement was not supported at this time by Council.
