On Track Ongoing Initiative
The disaster preparedness program has been substantial: Ongoing engagement with Hastings Street Association regarding the Noosa Main Beach Sea Wall Disaster Resilience project. Attendance and presentation at the Sunshine Coast District Health Committee meeting and Disaster Resilience Community Engagement with residents from Noosa Springs at Noosa Springs Resort in company with all local emergency services partners. Ongoing partnership with Noosa Seniors and their Seniors Connect Disaster Resilience Roadshow program. Simtable training with Council’s Fire Management team at staff induction session and engagements at aged care facilities (Noosa Waters Retirement Estate and Monterey) and with community at the Healthy Land and Water Backing onto Bush session on 18 April prior to 3 x-controlled burns. WOW Day celebrations with Noosa SES including Noosa Council executives and councillors. This is one of many engagements shared with Noosa SES and our community. The Year 1 GSLC presentation and packing Get Ready kits were others that gained significant public interest. Inaugural Cooroibah and Boreen Point Community Disaster Subgroup meeting. Work underway with them to complete their Disaster Management Plan to be endorsed by Noosa LDMG by the 27 November meeting. Collaboration with the University of Sunshine Coast presenting Using AI in Disaster Preparedness sessions. Progress continues against the TC Alfred Actions Register, with 86 of 96 identified actions completed to date. Planning well advanced for the LDMG, LDCC, and Recovery exercises to be delivered in August 2026.
