SERVICES & ORGANISATION COMMITTEE MEETING AGENDA 8 JUNE 2021
Operational effectiveness:
The highest patronage bus routes continues to be 626 and 627. These services have a
combined frequency of 15 minutes between Sunshine or Sunrise Beach and Tewantin.
The 065 Go Noosa Loop service had the third highest patronage and operates ona 15 minute
frequency from 7am-7pm and every 30 minutes from 7pm -11pm.
Over Easter 2021, data from the 065 Go Noosa Loop Bus showed that the majority of the service
hours exceeded TransLink’'s passenger service threshold of 14 passengers per hour. Refer chart

The other routes, 064,628, 629 and 632 operate on aless frequent schedule and correspondingly
returned a lower total patronage.
The reduction in patronage on the temporary 064 Peregian — Noosa Head's service when
compared to the previous years may be due to a shift in passengers choosing to Park & Ride and
use the high frequency 065 Go Noosa Loop bus.
Data obtained:
Over the six week 2020 Christmas period there were a total of 245,096 passenger trips. This
equated to a 20% increase in bus patronage compared to the previous year with the increase in
patronage largely coming from introduction of the additional 065 loop bus. Over the six week
2021 Christmas period there were a total of 196,889 passenger trips. This equates to a 20%
decrease to the previous year.
This can be attributed to the impacts of CO'VID however the decrease in patronage was relatively
low. By comparison there was a decline in patronage on the TransLink network of 36% when
comparing October 2019 to October 2020 and 27% when comparing February 2020 to February
2021(Source: Qld Cabinet & Ministerial Directory). These figures indicate that patronage on the
free buses was strong despite the impacts of Covid-19.
