ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Acoustic Report –Design Stage
42. An acoustic report prepared by a suitably qualified person* must be submitted to council that
addresses the noise impacts from plant and equipment etc. on nearby residences and
commercial areas of Wimmers Lane and Garnet Street at the detail design stage prior to
commissioning the equipment. The acoustic report must demonstrate compliance with the
requirements specified in Table 1 of this Decision Notice when measured at either the
residential boundary or outside the most exposed part of an affected building, whichever is

mechanical equipment such as a/c units, motors, refrigeration equipment,
compressors, pumps, rooftop plant and equipment, ventilation, fans, plant rooms,
refuse compactors and pumps etc. and;
the location of any plant and associated equipment,
measured background noise levels
a description of acoustic enclosures and screenings if used
attenuation measures to comply
Noise - Mechanical Plant and Equipment
43. Mechanical plant and equipment, a/c units, motors, refrigeration equipment, compressors,
pumps, rooftop plant and equipment etc. must be situated within the building where possible
or suitably provided with noise reduction measures and located as to prevent a noise
nuisance beyond the boundary of the site and not exceed the levels specified in Table 1 of
this Decision Notice.
TABLE 1
NOISE LIMITS AT A SENSITIVE RECEPTOR
Noise level at noise sensitive place measured as the adjusted
PERIOD
maximum sound pressure level (L10, adj,T)
7am – 6pm Background noise level (L90,T) plus 5 dB(A)
