6. NOISE ASSESSMENT
6.1 Noise Limits
The project noise criteria were outlined in Section 5.5, and the noise limits can be determined based on the
noise monitoring results in Section 4. It is proposed that the nearest residences to the proposed development
be assessed based on the background noise levels measured at Location A. The noise limits are calculated as
shown in Table 6.1.

6.2 Noise Modelling
Noise from Noosa Springs Boutique Hotel has been modelled in SoundPLAN 8.2 as multiple point and line
sources. The tennis court and pool noise have been modelled as point sources and carpark activity has been
modelled as both point and line sources to indicate the impact of door slams and vehicle movement on nearby
receptors. Receptor R1 has been modelled as a third storey façade on the future development, this site was
chosen due to its proximity and elevation and can be considered the worst affected location on the future
development. Receptor R2 and R3 have been modelled as the façade of the house to the north west and south
west respectively as per Figure 2.1.
6.2.1 Tennis Noise Assessment
The tennis courts have undergone a few changes throughout the development of the design. Three tennis
courts were previously located further to the north east (See Figure 3.1). The new design adds one extra
tennis court and relocates all of them to the position illustrated in Figure 6.1.
This report compares the results from Trinity Report 207401.0104.R01V04, dated 19 September 2022 (three
courts in total, approximate location as shown in Figure 3.1) to the current design. It is understood that the
courts are to be used during the day and evening periods i.e. 7:00 am to 9:00 pm (The Noosa Shire Council
requires any communal outdoor facilities to not used between the hours of 9:00 pm and 6:30 am the following
day).
Noise emission levels from the proposed tennis courts have been calculated based on a sound power level of
92 dBA Leq per court based on tennis noise sourced from Trinity’s noise source database. Tennis activity was
modelled as a point source at the middle of each tennis court, as illustrated in Figure 6.1. The noise emission
results at each receptor can be found in Table 6.2.
