4.6 Waste Management

Sprinkler or light water spray systems shall be in place during earthworks to control airborne
dust and pollutants if/as necessary. Any resultant mud from this process will be managed
via the Erosion & Sediment Control systems in place during site construction.

4.7 Erosion and Sediment Control

It is the responsibility of the Contractor to ensure that all erosion and sediment control
measures are implemented prior to commencement and maintained during the
construction period.

Standard ESC measures must be in utilized generally in accordance with the IECA
Guidelines, EPP Water Policy and current best practice methods. A day-to-day working
ESC strategy must be prepared and updated by the Contractor to reflect the actual
progress of the works and site-specific constraints.

Notwithstanding the above, it is the ultimate responsibility of the Contractor to ensure that
adequate erosion and sediment controls are implemented at the site to ensure any water
released from the site meets the water quality objective of TSS (Total Suspended Solids)
= 50mg/L.

The erosion and sediment control measures are to be maintained by the Contractor during
the maintenance period or until the site is established with 70-80% ground cover.

Erosion and sediment control measures should include, but not be limited to the following:
  · Diversion of clean water away from the work areas
  · Entry/ Exit Sediment Trap as per IPWEAQ D-0040
  · Capture & treatment of dirty water (incl. groundwater) in a bunded area or basin
  · Provision of silt fences as a ‘last line of defense’ downstream of all work areas
  · Minimising of disturbed areas
  · Stabilisation of batters and exposed areas immediately upon completion of
      earthworks
  · Installation of additional measures as required prior to anticipated rainfall
  · Ongoing maintenance of the control systems
  · Inspection and maintenance of control systems after rainfall events

Should any services require relocation as part of the works, this shall be carried out by an
approved contractor for each relevant asset owner.
