2.0      METHODOLOGY
2.1      DESKTOP ASSESSMENT
         In order to gain an understanding of the existing ecological values and the potential for species of
         conservation significance to be present within the development site and surrounding area, the
         following databases were queried:

         •     The Noosa Plan 2020 overlay mapping
         •     Regulated Vegetation Management Supporting Map
         •     Wildlife Online database
         •     Protected Plants Flora Survey Trigger Area mapping
         •     Queensland Koala Habitat Areas and Koala Priority Areas mapping
         •     Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) Protected Matters
               Search Tool
         •     Records from the Atlas of Living Australia
         •     Queensland Globe mapping.

         Copies of desktop search results are provided in Appendix B.

         The bushfire hazard assessment completed by Bushfire Risk Reducers and dated 24 April 2024
         has also been considered to assist in determining asset protection zone requirements for the
         dwelling house and bushfire setbacks for the new sheds to avoid the buildings being established
         within the flame zone.

2.2      FIELD SURVEY
         Two site investigation were completed for the project on 9 July 2024 and 29 July 2024. The
         investigations involved undertaking a series of walking traverses within a 100m buffer area of the
         area in which new structures were proposed, with a focus on vegetation in immediate proximity
         to the area in which new buildings are to be constructed. The field survey included the following:
         • Verifying regional ecosystems (RE) within the nominated area and/or describing vegetation
             communities immediately adjacent to the development area. Quaternary assessments were
             undertaken in accordance with Queensland Herbarium guidelines (Neldner et al., 2020)
         • Targeted searches for State and Commonwealth listed conservation significant flora species
             based on preferred habitats and known distributions
         • Verification of mapped habitat within the survey area based on an assessment of mandatory
             habitat factors identified in the desktop study and field survey findings
         • Recording declared weed species observed within the survey area
         • A habitat survey for conservation significant fauna species identified as having the potential
             to occur through desktop assessments (based on known distribution and preferred habitat)
         • Opportunistic surveys for conservation significant fauna species including visual searches for
             suspected species, as well as faecal pellet and scratch marks
