The open eucalypt forest was dominated by Corymbia intermedia (pink bloodwood) with
Eucalyptus resinifera (red mahogany) also common along the mid to upper slopes of the canopy
and extended up to a height of around 25 – 30m (refer Plate 1), with taller vegetation associated
with the gully systems. Syncarpia glomulifera (turpentine) was also common along the mid slopes
and the edge gully systems, with Eucalyptus grandis (flooded gum) prevalent throughout the
         gullies (refer Plate 2).

Plate 1 – Open eucalypt forest dominated by Corymbia intermedia and Eucalyptus resinifera with sparse shrub
         understorey

A small tree layer was present in some areas, and while this was relatively sparse, species such as
Acacia disparrima (hickory wattle), Allocasuarina littoralis (coastal sheoak), Alphitonia excelsa
(soapy ash) and Lophostemon confertus (brush box) were present on the upper and mid slopes to
         an approximate height of 10m – 12m.

A sparse shrub layer was observed throughout much of the community, with Acacia disparrima,
Cryptocarya glaucescens (jackwood), Hovea acutifolia (pointed-leaved hovea), Polycias elegens
(celery wood) and Symplocos thwaitesii (buff hazelwood) present at higher elevations and Litsea
leefeana (green bolly gum), Neolitsea dealbata (brown bolly gum), Pilidiostigma rhytispermum
(small-leaved plum myrtle) and Synoum glandulosum (scentless rosewood) more prevalent on the
lower slopes and within the gully system. Cordyline rubra (red-fruited palm lily) and the Category
3 restricted invasive plant, Lantana camara (lantana) listed under the Biosecurity Act 2014, were
also common through the gully systems.
