1. Introduction This report details the results of a geotechnical investigation undertaken for a proposed driveway and residence at 146 Middle Creek Road, Federal. The investigation was performed by Tectonic for Oceantobush Pastoral Trust, generally in accordance with Proposal P225047-Rev0, dated 3 February 2025. Subdivisions (Qld) Pty Ltd (SQ) are the consulting civil engineers for the driveway layout. The geotechnical investigation comprised a site walk-over survey by an experienced engineering geologist, excavation of test pits at two locations and a ‘scrape’ into a selected existing sideslope; and laboratory testing. This report summarises the results of our investigation and includes a slope stability assessment and recommendations regarding geotechnical matters for the proposed driveway and residence, pertaining to the future building locations, earthworks, retaining structures, footings and drainage. 2. Proposed Development A concept layout sketch had been prepared by SQ at the time of the investigation which indicated initial concepts for the driveway alignment. The driveway would extend from the existing entry point to the east at the frontage to Middle Creek Road, then extend mostly following the ridgeline of a natural spur along the southern edge of the block, then to the north-western corner. A short section to the south of the existing driveway alignment, just prior to the final rise up to the house site (Ref. below) was constructed sidelong across a short section. It is understood that no further notable earthworks would be undertaken, with the driveway largely to follow an existing track. Localised works may be required to facilitate site preparation, grading and drainage however this is not anticipated to exceed about 0.5 m depth/height of cutting/filling. The proposed residence would be located on an elongated knob in the north-west corner, one of the highest topographical points within the allotment. The crest of the knob was relatively wide, and very gently sloping. Therefore, minimal earthworks are anticipated to facilitate the construction of the house, which we understand would be a relatively lightweight building, suspended on short posts. The site does not have access to a potable mains water supply or sewerage, and therefore on-site collection of rainwater in tanks as well as on-site effluent disposal will be required The supplied sketch for the driveway, including annotations discussed on site, is presented below in Text Figure 1 on the following page.
