3 Character, Context and Visibility
3.1 Noosaville
Noosaville is a low-lying suburb in Noosa defined by its waterfront location on the Noosa River and Lake
Weyba, which contributes to its popularity as a tourist destination. The waterfront built form is characterised
by a mix of holiday apartments, open space parkland and maritime operations. Low scale commercial
development along the main street of Noosaville (Gympie Terrace) is marine-based recreation, including boat
hire, water taxis, ferry stops, tourist booking services, coffee shops and some restaurants. The waterfront is
also characterised by open space parkland, and services, such as the Noosa Coast Guard, and associated
infrastructure (such as telecommunications towers, pontoons, storage sheds).
